Alright folks! Summer’s off to a bang in Saxapahaw, and we want to celebrate by getting a little tropical! We open at noon on Saturday, May 21st, and will have a whole bunch of new goodies for everyone to enjoy with us. Take a look and plan to join us!
Lets start with a cask we’re all pretty excited about: Not only will we have the newest addition to our popular coffee-infused sweet stout series, our Javaloha Cream Stout, a Hawaiian-inspired coffee cream stout to which we added 10 pounds of toasted coconut and a couple split vanilla beans, then finished with a pound of a really beautiful, genuine “silver skin” Kona coffee bean, fresh roasted and shipped to us direct from from the mountainside of our fiftieth state. And just for fun, we pulled 5 gallons of this tasty libation and placed it lovingly into a cask with a healthy dose of smashed up bananas (because, why not?). We’re unofficially calling this one our “Bananaloha” Cream Stout, and because there’s only 5 gallons, it may not stick around long, so come get a glass early while you can.
Next, we’ll have avaialble the newest batch of Communal, our oak-fermented brettanomyces table beer that’ll be on draught at the tasting room and, for the first time ever, will be available in 500ml bottles, ready for you to take home and share amongst friends.
Oh yeah, and while you’re looking over bottles, we’ll also have available two brand new additions our Saxapahaw-exclusive Bifurcation Project series. These are limited, one-off variants that we create from the full tanks of our four core beers, only available at the brewery while supplies last. The first new Bifurcation Project that will be available is a “Dirty Chai Latte” variant of our St. Benedict’s Breakfast Dubbel, our year-round coffee/cocao/oatmeal Belgian-style dubbel, but this time infused with whole cinnamon sticks, fresh ginger, green cardamom, star anise, split vanilla beans and crushed allspice, then finished with a really beautiful coffee from the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica, fresh roasted courtesy of our friends at Muddy Dog Roasting in Morrisville. The second Bifurcation Project we’ll have available on the 21st is our Foraged Honeysuckle Mille Fleur Rustic Saison, which offers up a rich medley of fresh spring flowers, citrusy whole cone hops, bright earthy heirloom grains and floral yeast tones. Both of these new Bifurcation Project beers will be available on draught and in bottles, so come enjoy a glass and bring home a bottle or two to share with friends!
We’ll also have a fresh, bright shrub to go alongside our tropical treats, for those who prefer a non-alcoholic, but still super-delicious, option during your visit. We’ve put together a really nice mango-papaya-pineapple shrub, made with coconut vinegar and balanced with a little Hawaiian raw turbinado sugar, just to keep everything beautifully balanced.
And as always, we’ll be working with our awesome neighbors to provide you some delicious treats and snacks to pair with these special selections for the day. More details to come, so stay tuned (and plan to stick around for live music from the Mason Via Band, the farmer’s market and more fun at Saturdays in Saxapahaw, just across the road from the brewery from 5-8pm!)
We look to see all of you out here in Saxapahaw on Saturday the 21st. Come enjoy all these new beers, spend some time with us, grab some bottles, and finish the day lying on a blanket with your friends and family hillside while listening to some great live music at this week’s Saturday in Saxapahaw.
